Music Common Assessments
Each semester, all Frederick County students in grades 1-5 will be assessed on various musical skills, which may include singing, reading and writing pitches and rhythms, describing listening excerpts, performing on classroom instruments, composing, improvising, and/or other musical activities. These tasks will focus on the music elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, tone color (including instruments), form, expressive elements (including dynamics and tempo), creative expression, improvisation, composition, connections to other contents, criticism and evaluation, and history, culture, and community. Wow, that's a lot to learn, but our students can do it!
